Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 27, 2026
Package: com.mutememe.soundboard
Thank you for using MuteMeme. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used when you use our Android application. We've written it in plain language — no legal jargon.
1. Who We Are
MuteMeme is an independent soundboard app for Android. The app is developed and maintained by Dev Lemekawi.
Contact: hamzaelhakkioui@gmail.com
2. What Information We Collect
2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect
MuteMeme does not require any account or login. We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any personal details
- Contacts, messages, or any data from other apps
- Your precise or coarse location
- Photos, camera, or microphone access
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
The following data may be collected automatically when you use the app:
Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
MuteMeme uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect:
- Advertising ID (Android GAID) — a resettable device identifier used to serve relevant ads
- Approximate IP address (used to serve region-appropriate ads)
- Basic device information: OS version, screen size, device model
- Ad interaction data: impressions, taps, and ad performance metrics
AdMob's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Analytics Data (Optional)
If analytics are enabled, the app may collect:
- App usage events: which sounds are played, features used, session duration
- Crash reports and performance data
- Device type and OS version
This data is aggregated and anonymous. It cannot be used to identify you personally. You can opt out of analytics at any time from the app's Settings screen.
2.3 Local Storage (On-Device Only)
The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Your favorite sounds list
- Audio files you choose to download for offline use
- Your in-app preferences and settings
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
3. How We Use This Information
We use the data described above for the following purposes:
- To display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
- To improve app stability and fix crashes
- To understand how features are used and improve the app experience
- To fulfil your in-app actions (saving favorites, enabling downloads)
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Permissions We Request
MuteMeme requests only the permissions it needs to function:
- INTERNET — Required to load ads and (if enabled) send analytics data
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below) — Required to save downloaded audio files to your device
- READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (Android 13+) — Required to read previously downloaded audio files
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Allows the app to check connectivity before loading content
The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.
5. Third-Party Services
MuteMeme integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — Advertising platform. Privacy policy
- Google Analytics for Firebase (if analytics enabled) — Usage analytics. Privacy policy
These services may use cookies, SDKs, and device identifiers to function. We do not control their data practices beyond what is configured in their dashboards.
6. Advertising and Your Choices
Ads in MuteMeme are served by Google AdMob. By default, AdMob uses your Advertising ID to show personalized ads based on your interests.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:
- Go to: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
- Or reset your Advertising ID: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID
Opting out does not remove ads — it means the ads shown will be less tailored to your interests.
7. Data Retention
We do not store personal data on our own servers. Data collected by third-party services (AdMob, Firebase Analytics) is retained according to their own policies. Locally stored data (favorites, downloads, preferences) is kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
8. Children's Privacy
MuteMeme is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below and we will take steps to delete it.
If you are a developer configuring child-directed settings for compliance with COPPA or Google Play Families policies, ensure AdMob is configured accordingly in your AdMob dashboard.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:
- The right to access information collected about you
- The right to request deletion of your data
- The right to opt out of data collection used for advertising
To exercise these rights, contact us at hamzaelhakkioui@gmail.com. For data held by third-party services (Google), contact them directly or manage preferences through your Google Account.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect any data processed by MuteMeme. Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own security (lock screen, encryption). We do not transmit sensitive data over insecure channels.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document. If changes are significant, we may notify you through a notice in the app. Continued use of MuteMeme after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact Us
